CSF Conference - Opto- and Electromechanical Technologies

Nano and micromechanical oscillators are an enabling technology for precision experimentsof mass force or displacement. In recent years it has become possible to control suchmesoscopic systems at the quantum level, by coupling them to photons or artificialsuperconducting circuits. This research, at the interface of quantum optics, condensedmatter Physics with Nanotechnology, has rapidly advanced in the last years. On the appliedside such studies enable entirely novel optical devices that use the interactions of photons andphonons. On a fundamental level, this research constitutes test of quantum mechanics on amacroscopic scale. This summer school will bring leading researchers in this new domain ofPhysics together.
