This international retreat, organized by INGRES and ETH Zurich, will be held in honor of Dr. Dieter Brändle, the first President of the Swiss Federal Patent Court who will step back at the end of 2017. It will allow the opinion leaders in the law of innovation and technology from all over the world, including judges, litigators, patent attorneys, in-house lawyers and academics, to discuss one of the fundamental problems in patent law: The need to assess the state of the art without hindsight and knowledge of the invention.
